Why make your own Almond milk?
I like to know what I am putting in to my body. Making my own nut milk puts me in control of that. I love the natural nutty flavour of almonds but I also love experimenting with different flavourings. My favourite is still vanilla but love to spice it up in the Autumn and Winter months with cinnamon, cloves or mixed spice.
Is it good for you?
Nut milks are rich in good fats, which promote a healthy heart and keep you feeling full. Almond milk contains 50% of the RDA for Vitamin E making it great for your skin as well.
Biggest benefit (in my opinion)
Dairy can cause inflammation in the gut for many of us. Even if you don’t show the physical signs, milk has a way of inflaming the intestines making us feel bloated. Providing you don’t have a nut allergy, nut milk is a great alternative that does not cause that same inflammation. In fact it can be quite soothing to the lining of intestines and in most cases does not cause any negative digestive side effects. Yippee.
Perhaps one day I’ll bathe like Cleopatra in a homemade nut milk bath.

Notes
- If you have chickens then they will love this occasional addition to their diet.
- I do recommend soaking them overnight in cold water however you can soak them for 2 hours in boiling water as a quick alternative.
